Daisy Teapot Cozy

Materials:
1 ball Lily® Sugar’n Cream Yarn (70.9 g/2.5 oz) in Cornflower Blue (MC)
1 ball Lily® Sugar’n Cream Yarn (70.9 g/2.5 oz) in Yellow (A)
1 ball Lily® Sugar’n Cream Yarn (70.9 g/2.5 oz) in White (B)
4 mm (U.S. G or 6) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

Gauge: 14 hdc and 10 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].


Instructions:
Tea Cozy to fit 6 cup tea pot. Approx 9 x 8 ins [23 x 20.5 cm].

Daisy Motif
With MC, ch 5. Join with sl st to form a ring.

1st rnd: Ch 1. 10 sc in ring. Join A with sl st to first sc.

2nd rnd: With A, ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. *Ch 7. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in next ch. 1 hdc in next ch. 1 dc in each of next 3 ch. Miss next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 5 petals.

3rd rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in missed sc in last rnd. *Ch 7. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in next ch. 1 hdc in next ch. 1 dc in each of next 3 ch. 1 sc in next missed sc in last rnd. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 5 petals. Fasten off.

Note: 5 petals from 2nd rnd should alternate with 5 petals from 3rd rnd.

Tea Cozy
To change color, work to last 2 loops on hook. Draw loop of next color through 2 loops on hook to complete st and proceed.
Ch 2 does not count as hdc.
Make 2 pieces alike.
Stripe Pattern
Work 2 rows with MC.
Work 2 rows with A.
Work 2 rows with MC.
Work 2 rows with B.
Work 2 rows with MC.
Work 2 rows with A.
Work 2 rows with MC.
These 14 rows form Stripe Pat.
With MC, ch 37.

1st row: (WS). 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 hdc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 35 hdc.

2nd row: Ch 2. 1 hdc in 1st hdc. 1 hdc in next hdc through back loop only. *1 hdc in next hdc through front loop only. 1 hdc in next hdc through back loop only. Rep from * to last hdc. 1 hdc in last hdc. Turn. First row of Stripe Pat is complete.

Keep cont of Stripe Pat, rep last row until 14 rows of Stripe Pat are complete.

Next row: (RS). With MC, ch 1. Working through both loops, 1 sc in first hdc. *Draw up a loop in each of next 2 hdc. Yoh and draw through all 3 loops on hook - sc2tog made. Rep from * to end of row. 18 sts.

Next row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first st. *Sc2tog over next 2 sts. Rep from * to last sc. 1 sc in last sc. 10 sts. Rep last row once more. 6 sts. Fasten off.

Edging: With RS of work facing, join MC with sl st to top left corner. Ch 1. Work 22 sc down left side of piece to foundation ch. Fasten off.

With RS of work facing, join MC with sl st to bottom right corner. Ch 1. Work 22 sc up right side of piece. Fasten off.

Place markers on side edges 2 ins [5 cm] from top and bottom. With WS facing of both pieces, crochet both sides tog from top edge down to marker and from bottom edge up to marker, leaving openings for handle and spout.

With RS facing, join MC with sl st to bottom edge at side seam.

Next rnd: Ch 1. Working from left to right instead of from right to left as usual, work 1 reverse sc in each st around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Sew Daisy Motif to top of Tea Cozy as shown in picture.
