Ingredients
Distilled or boiled water
Witch hazel or organic vodka
Essential oils (Lavender, Rosemary, Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, or Peppermint are all good choices)
Small spray bottle
Pour the distilled or boiled water into the spray bottle until it’s about halfway full. Then add your witch hazel or organic vodka. Next, add about 15 to 30 drops of your choice of essential oils, mixing a few scents if you want. The more drops you use, the stronger the smell will be. Shake well, and then apply directly to skin.
If you live somewhere super woodsy, or if you’re planning on a long hiking trip, you might want to make this extra potent bug spray from Wellness Mama. She warns that it has an intense smell, but it really does keep flies, mosquito and ticks away. So maybe you won’t be the most popular camper, but at least you’ll be bug free!
Vinegar of the Four Thieves Bug Spray
Ingredients
1 bottle of Apple Cider Vinegar
2 TBSP each of dried Sage, Rosemary, Lavender, Thyme and Mint
Quart size glass jar
Pour the vinegar into the jar along with the herbs. Seal it tightly. Keep on your counter and give it a good shake every day for two to three weeks. Dilute it with water in dropper or spray bottles, and go forth into the trees!
